Sheldon Smith is the Manager Human Resources and Payroll at Latitude 12. He specialises in providing Strategic and Operational HR advisory and consulting services and associated legislative and regulatory matters, to Local Government Councils, Indigenous Organisations and Remote and Regional organisations .
Throughout Sheldon’s career, he has held senior roles with market leading, multinational companies providing services at both a national and regional levels. Prior to his career at Latitude 12, Sheldon held senior HR and operational roles in iconic Australian companies such as Telstra, Spotless and AMP. During his time at Telstra, Sheldon implemented a number of HR transformational and change management projects such as Project iGen ($600m) and Project New ($400m), the biggest change programs since its privatisation. Sheldon worked on several of the 27 sub-projects as part of the restructure aimed at simplifying Telstra’s internal business processes, improving the customer service delivery and cutting underlying fixed costs, contributing to the realisation of $100 million in productivity improvements.
Prior to working at Latitude 12, Sheldon held several senior management positions for an Australia-wide services company with a turnover in excess of $20 million dollars. In other previous roles Sheldon has served as a National HR and WHS Manager, Organisational Development Manager and Learning and Development Manager. He was responsible for the management of teams’ delivery services within environments embedded with high levels of legislative and regulatory compliance such as aviation, rail, mining, telecommunications, immigration and border protection.
During this time, he has achieved a number of accolades inclusive of winning Telstra’s most coveted prize, the Pinnacle Award in 2010 and 2011, specifically for his contribution in developing and implementing change initiatives by delivering best practice HR systems into the company’s processes.
